Professor Andrew K.T. Kuk
谷健霆教授

Professor Andrew Kuk joined the Department of Ophthalmology as a Clinical Assistant Professor of Practice in June 2024. He was born and raised in the United Kingdom (UK), attended Harrow School as an academic and music scholar and studied medicine (MBBS, 2011) at Imperial College London intercalating at the Imperial College Business School (Healthcare Management BSc, 2009). 

谷健霆教授於2024年6月加入眼科學系並擔任臨床實務助理教授。他在英國出生和長大，就讀於哈羅學校，並獲得學術和音樂獎學金。他於2011年在倫敦帝國學院修畢內外全科醫學士課程，期間於2009年在該校理工學院商學院進行醫療保健管理學跨學科研究。

 

Professor Kuk completed his Foundation Year Programme in the National Health Service and started his ophthalmology career at Aintree University Hospital (Liverpool UK, 2013). During this time, he passed the Licensing Examination (Hong Kong (HK)) and subsequently returned to HK to fulfil his internship and continued his ophthalmology training in the Hospital Authority – HK East Cluster at Tung Wah Eastern Hospital and Pamela Youde Nethersole Eastern Hospital. 

谷教授在英國國民保健服務完成基礎年培訓計劃，並於2013年在利物浦安特里大學醫院開始其眼科醫生職業生涯。在此期間，他通過了香港的執業資格試，隨後返港履行實習期，並在醫院管理局的港島東醫院聯網轄下的東華東院和東區尤德夫人那打素醫院繼續接受眼科培訓。

 

Upon obtaining the Fellowship of the College of Ophthalmologists of Hong Kong (2022) Professor Kuk became team head of the oculoplastic and orbital surgery department. Now as a part of the University of Hong Kong he will continue to lead in this area of expertise whilst engaging with the student population to which he previously served as an Honorary Clinical Assistant Professor at the HKU Medical Ethics and Humanities Unit. 

谷教授於2022年在獲得香港醫學專科學院院士（眼科）資格後，他成為眼部整形和眼眶手術科的團隊負責人。現在作為香港大學的一員，他將在這個專業領域中繼續領導，同時與學生群體互動。他早前曾擔任香港大學醫學倫理及人文學部的名譽臨床助理教授。

 

As a clinical teacher, Professor Kuk has been a trainer at the Nethersole Clinical Simulation Training Centre for crew resource management training, departmental resuscitation training and intern boot camp training. And he is an active course instructor at the Chinese University of Hong Kong Ophthalmic Microsurgical Training Centre.

作為一名臨床教師，谷教授一直在那打素臨床模擬訓練中心擔任培訓師，負責培訓人員資源管理、科室復甦以及實習生訓練營。他亦是香港中文大學眼科顯微手術培訓中心的課程教師。
